Where can I find vital statistics on the computer?

I am trying to find out where a relative passed away and is buried. I have no one to ask. Where on the computer can I look up the information I need?

You may need to edit your post to give more information, such as what country and at least a general time frame. Also, for instance the US is such a huge country that the 50 States' information may be handled somewhat differently, especially over time.
Reply:If the person was old enough to maybe collect social security, you should check this site: http://ssdi.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cg... It will tell you the person's last residence was, the birth and death dates, etc. That will be a place to start looking. You could then go to www.usgenweb.com, pick the state, and the county. If you are lucky, someone may have posted local cemetery listings or have volunteered to do a lookup in the area.
Reply:LDS.org is a great place to begin. The Church of Latter Day Saints has Death, Census and marriage records along with place of burial on not just people born in the US but people born all over the world. You can also check at Ancestry.com.


You can sign up for a free membership andget 2 weeks free of both the US census/birth/death records and an additional 2 weeks of the world info. You can find birth and death records on both living and deceased individuals there, unlike LDS which only gives info on the deceased.

Reply:What information do you have? Try googling the name and it may come up with an obituaries or newspaper article. Post questions on querie boards where you think this person lived and under the persons last name. Someone may contact you with information. Look thru old obituaries of other relatives if you have any it may have this persons name and last location listed, so you may get a town or state to start from. Or you could go to a site where they locate people for you and pay them. Or if you have a phone number for this person it may still be in a phone book you could try a reverse search and enter the number and see if the name %26amp; location come up.

I'm not one hundred percent sure, but think that the Betty Boop cartoon shorts came out sometime in the 1920s. They were still popular in Cinemas here in the UK after WW2. I recall seeing some as a child in 1940s London.

Aren't the Census and US Vital Statistics engaging in pseudoscience?

Everything they do is because it was written into law. The Congressman don't even read the bills which are hundreds of pages long. The President then signs the bill as a stimulus package and then the government bureacrats enforce the law just for the sake of it and could care less where the grant money goes because they have no incentive to get accurate statistics.





It is hardly the way a scientist does research which is to do a study and then submit the findings to a peer-reviewed journal and see if other scientists are able to replicate the data.

Your statement has nothing to say about what is wrong with the data that comes from the census. The census is mandated by law, and it is the basis for determining the number of Representatives in Congress that come from each state. The census was also used to determine the number of draftees were to come from each state during the Vietnam debacle.





This information is not scientific research. It uses statistical methods that are used to make estimates, not necessarily exact numbers. It costs so much to do a census that no institution would have the money to run it more than once per decade.

How do I get Vital Statistics on my deceased mother for legal purposes in Indiana?

My mom passed away and in an attempt to file a claim for benefits I need birth and marriage certificates. I have her death certificate and I was told that her Vital Statistics would cover the rest. I was told to go to the courthouse but they sent me to a health dept. The health dept sent me to the clerk or court. And so and and so forth. Can anyone tell me who I need to contact or where I need to go to obtain these records. Another concern is the fact that she was not born or married in Indiana. I don't know if that will be a problem. I am hoping I don't have to go out of state for these records.
