Changing a one and a half year old's name??

My son was born in November of 2006. At the time of his birth, his father and I were not married and my maiden name was put on his birth certificate. His father and I were married in December of last year, and I would like to have our son's surname changed to the family name. We live in West Virginia; Is it too late to do this through vital statistics? How would we need to go about having this done?

You need to go down to your local court house and file the papers for it.
Reply:Call where ever they keep birth certificate in your state. Most likely city or county hall. You will have to fill out a form to change it and maybe have to pay.
Reply:oh no. it's not hard, just some paperwork. you can look it up online even. google it, say "name change in W.VA" and go from there.
Reply:I would call and find out. Probably try calling your court house or the hospital where your child was born to find out some suggestions.
Reply:It is very simple! Just go to the courthouse and file the paperwork. It costs $100 here in michigan. I don't know the fee there.
Reply:First off congrats, best wishes for your marriage. It shouldn't be difficult at all, go down to your local courthouse or social security office and file the paperwork just as you did when you got married.
