Follow-up question for my previous question about getting my son's birth certificate?

I asked a question a little earlier about getting my son's birth certificate so I can enroll him in kindergarten, and I did end up doing a Google search for the city he was born in and vital statistics, and filled out all the info, gave credit card info (it's about 37 dollars by the way... people said somewhere between 10 and 50 dollars), and anyway, all I have to do is provide identification and sign, date and fax the identification verification form.

So, I have a dumb follow-up question: do I need to be sending id for myself (the applicant, mother of a minor child) or for my son (the five-year-old)? The only id I have for him is a social security card.

Told ya, dumb question, but they don't specify.

I'd make a copy of both....that way you don't have anymore hassles and it will be taken care of.
Reply:You'll want to send your identification. They'll match the name on your ID against the mother's name on the birth certificate for your son, then send it to you.
Reply:you should go to the court house, with the S.S.N. you should

not half to pay..
Reply:When i got my son birth certificate i showed them my ID but i went and got his not through the internet. I would look and see if there's a number on there so you can call and ask them that question.

.
Reply:Don't they have a telephone helpline or email? click control+F and then find "contact".

You need for yourself in most cases (perhaps the father too, depending), especially if you're talking about a child who's too young to have much other ID.

When I did it, I didn't give credit card info, I mailed a check with my signature that I was entitled to the information. (30 dollars) But I guess it depends on the state.

If it's in the US, the website should end in .gov. If it doesn't, there may be a slight problem.
