How is the +/- statistic figured in hockey?
When you are on the ice for a goal by your team (+1), when your opponent scores and you are on the ice (-1), real simple. It is basically a measure of the scoring differnetial when you are playing. If it is positive, your team scores more goals than it gives up when you are playing, if it is negative, your team is getting scored against more often. Disregard power play goals.
Reply:you get a plus 1 when your on the ice when your team scores a even strentgh goal. You get -1 if your on the ice when you get scored on

Also - if your on the ice and you give up a short handed goal, you get a -1
Reply:I hope I answer this correctly (it can be a little confusing)

When I player for instance Brian Gionta is on the ice, if a goal is scored against the devils Gionta receives a MINUS. If the Devils score a goal against the opposing team while he is on the ice then Brian receives a +.
Reply:i would search this before asking it:

Reply:+1 for the players on the ice whose team scores

-1 for the players on the ice whose team gets scored on

Simple enough.......
Reply:If you are on the ice when your team scores a goal you get a +1

if you are on the ice when your team gives up a goal you get a -1,

the stats is just the sum of the +1's and -1's
