How do i get birth and death records from vital statistics in boise idaho for free?

You don't.

These are government documents, and there will always be a processing fee. The records are not created for genealogical reasons.. in fact, some clerks are actually hostile at the amount of time that it takes from their usual job, for immediate use. Not to mention.. those silly clerks just REFUSE to come to work, for free.

I think Wendy has the whole thing covered here. Short, simple, and the whole truth, including the part where the employee that you approach to get you that record isn't working for free. They have to pay her somehow. Besides, since when has there ever been a state that would pass up on an opportunity to generate income? This is a perfect income-generating scheme. By the way, you can't even get a copy of your OWN birth certificate for free.........why would they give you any one else's for free? No hobby is 100% free, including genealogy. Sometimes, it will cost you some money. This is one of those times.
Reply:Due to identity theft, you can only obtain your birth certificate and those of your children, for a fee.
Reply:By going to the courthouse.
Reply:as far as I know, every county charges something
