I am planning on having a homebirth..?

I am planning on having a homebirth and wasnt sure (in MA) where I would have to register the baby after the birth to get the baby's birth certificate. I called city hall and they told me that there was a woman who takes care of that. Anyone who had a homebirth? What is the paperwork afterward and where did you have to go? The Department of Vital Statistics does BCertificates that have already been processed not new births. Thank you.

I am planning on having a homebirth..?
Ask your midwife--many midwives take care of the paperwork themselves and send it in as part of their fee. Even if they don't send it all in, the midwife will tell you what to do.
Reply:If you called city hall and they knew there was a lady that did that. call city hall back and ask for her number or at least her name and you can find her and get started on what you need to be doing. that is going to be your best bet and your obgyn will probably help you find where you need to go for that stuff. Goog luck with your home birth
Reply:Check with Planned Parenthood...they should be able to give you a direction to go in. Look in your local phone book for mid-wives, they can be very helpful
Reply:If this is your first baby you should consider a midwife but have the baby in the hospital.
Reply:First of all you need a mid-wife. Perferably female it will make you feel more comfortable. Look in your telephone book under phyician's than look for mid-wife. A mid-wife is someone who knows how to deliver babies and knows exactly what papers ned to be filed.

If the baby is a boy do plan on getting him circumcised?

Sometimes you can find an OB-GYN wlling to come to your home on a house call. Ask your local Family Planning or Hospital to find a mid-wife. I wish you all the luck in the world.

Just have a healthy baby.
Reply:God Bless You Honey, but can I ask You why not give birth in a hospital? I mean what if something goes wrong? That midwife is not a doctor! Do You have equipment if something does happen? Did You consider all this?

Good luck to You and the baby! I mean it. I'll pray for You!
